ZANU PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu made the
announcement at Sikhosana’s residence yesterday, “His Excellency, the President
and First Secretary of Zanu PF Cde ED Mnangagwa has conferred a national hero
status to the late Absolom Sikhosana. The late Absolom Sikhosana will be
interred at the National Heroes Acre at a date to be advised,” said Obert

from heart problems ““He has not been well for some time suffering from a heart
problem. Then he was diagnosed with prostate cancer as well as arthritis. We
were told his kidney had failed,” said Mrs Ndlovu.
During his tenure in the ZANU PF Youth League from 2004 to 2014
he worked with the former Local Government Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere who was
the Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs. Tweeting Kasukuwere said “Nkosi, we
called him. Cde Sikhosana has been promoted to greater glory. He was a dedicated
party man and liberator. He wore his traditional smile and worked very hard for
the welfare of the young people in our country. Nkosi, thank you for all the
years of service.”
The Norton Constituency legislator, Temba Mliswa said
Sikhosana was a rare character in ZANU PF as he was incorruptible, “Cde,
Malume, what a great man! I’m sadden to hear of the passing of Cde Absolom
Sikhosana. Whilst he may not have been a youth himself, he guided them well. A
great unifier who had the youth at heart. Ever jovial & incorruptible;
he’ll be missed in the political arena,” Temba Mliswa said.
Members of the ZANU PF Youth League who had a good fortune
to work under his stewardship testified that Absolom Sikhosana had a sense of
peace, unity and wisdom. Most Zimbabweans would remember him for translating
former President Robert Mugabe speeches into Ndebele during ZANU PF People’s Conferences.
Born 26 October 1949 Sikhosana passed away on 16 May 2020 in
Bulawayo. In ZANU PF they describe him as loyal, incorruptible, disciplined, a
hardworking member who never veneered off the revolutionary path.
